ABOUT ME
I wasn’t always a therapist, I was a business lawyer.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, I had a satisfying career as a partner in two law firms, Allen Matkins and Loeb and Loeb, as well as in teaching tax law at Loyola Law School. The catalyst for my transition from a lawyer to a therapist was the seven years I volunteered as a chaplain at Men’s Central Jail.
Through counseling individual inmates and facilitating groups in the jail I honed the listening skills I developed as a lawyer, business adviser, and teacher. Reaching people at a deep level and seeing the unique qualities of every person, I appreciate the value of a strong therapeutic relationship in connecting with a person.
I graduated from Antioch University with a master’s degree in clinical psychology, and currently am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist based in Larchmont Village, Los Angeles. I am conducting sessions in person and via telehealth. I am also seeing clients as a volunteer therapist at Homeboy Industries in Los Angeles.
Interests: road cycling, surfing, book club
Spiritual practices: yoga, meditation, church
Family life: married, four children, and two grandchildren
